Thuringian AJZ Engineering Receives EUR 20 Million Order from Russia
Supply of medical products from Thuringia
Jena, March 16, 2010 — AJZ Engineering GmbH, based in Jena, Thuringia, a long-standing specialist in the field of medicine and laboratory planning, has been awarded the mandate for a major project put out to tender by the government of the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia with an order volume of EUR 20 million. Within the scope of the new order AJZ Engineering, in which Analytik Jena holds a minority stake, will equip the clinical emergency center in Nabereshnye Chelny with medical technology and bring it into operation. The town lies in one of Russia’s most important industrial conurbations shaped by the oil, chemicals and automotive industry. All supplies and installations are to be carried out before the end of the current financial year.
"The order for the clinical emergency center in Tatarstan, which serves as an important pilot project for follow-up contracts, will enable us to strengthen our market position in Russia further," says Günter Liepelt, Managing Director of AJZ Engineering GmbH. "After the suspension of many projects owing to the economic and financial crisis in Russia, we are pleased that a revival can now be detected that raises hopes of follow-up contracts."
Renowned Thuringian medical technology manufacturers such as Trumpf from Saalfeld and Carl Zeiss Meditec from Jena are involved in this project as subcontractors of AJZ Engineering alongside the leading German medical technology manufacturers Siemens, Draeger and Fresenius.
"This lucrative major order covered by Euler Hermes will further advance the independent development of AJZ Engineering," says Klaus Berka, CEO of Analytik Jena AG. "This in turn will free Analytik Jena up to concentrate on its core business with instruments.”
In cooperation with Euler Hermes Kreditversicherung, Commerzbank and the Russian AK BARS Bank a tailored financing solution has been drawn up for the principal that particularly takes account of the impact of the global economic crisis on public sector entities in Russia.
"The Federal Republic of Germany, which supports the high status of German medical planning and equipment services as an important future market, has provided cover for this project business in a straightforward manner through the issue of export guarantees in favor of AJZ Engineering," continues Berka.
