Analytik Jena Showcasing New Products at the "analytica" 2010 trade fair
- TOptical and qTower expand the life science portfolio with real-time PCR technology
- Analytical Instrumentation business unit premiers the SPECORD® 200 PLUS
- ENMOhydro: an optimized software solution for water quality measurement networks
Jena/Munich, March 23, 2010 — Analytik Jena AG is continuing its product offensive at this year's "analytica" trade fair. The company will be premiering two new systems for carrying out real-time PCR, thus enhancing the life science portfolio with products that boast high revenue potential. The two systems, which are used in the real-time quantification of nucleic acids, are based on the standard PCR technology used by the Biometra subsidiary, as well as on Analytik Jena's rapid PCR technology. The patented rapid PCR technology from Analytik Jena increases analysis times by 300 to 500 percent compared to conventional processes. The products are licensed for research applications and will be available in early summer 2010.
"The acquisition of the real-time PCR license production and sales of these products is a key milestone for the strategic direction of our life science business and serves as a foundation for further significant revenue growth," said Klaus Berka, CEO of Analytik Jena AG.
Real-time PCR, which relies on a fluorescent signal quantification technique, has been used for amplifying and detecting DNA and RNA in molecular biology applications since the early 90s. This process technology is an established standard in the field of molecular diagnostics.
"Bioanalytical systems and molecular diagnostic reagents represent a huge growth market. The demand for high-end products to serve this segment will increase enormously over the next few years," added Berka. "We're pleased to be able to offer our life science customers this technology as of today."
Together with the subsidiaries AJ Blomesystem GmbH and Biometra GmbH, Analytik Jena is well positioned at this year's analytica and will be presenting a range of additional company-wide product innovations. SPECORD® PLUS represents a new generation of the tried and tested UV-VIS dual beam spectrophotometer. It features a comprehensive selection of accessories that make it a universal system for applications such as quality control in the food industry or purity control in the pharmaceutical industry. AJ Blomesystem GmbH, in collaboration with the Hygiene and Environmental Institute in Hamburg, will introduce ENMOhydro, a new innovation in the area of information management systems. This new software system is designed for controlling automated water quality measurement networks.
The biennial "analytica" trade fair is the most important global platform for the more than 1,000 laboratory technology, analysis and biotechnology system providers in attendance. The 22nd edition of the show, which is being held at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre, is a chance for visitors from around the world to learn about innovations, the latest research findings and market opportunities in industry and science. Analytik Jena AG will be exhibiting in hall B2, booth 342 and in hall A3, booth 321.
