Analytik Jena AG Supports a Young Researcher in the German Youth Science Competition “Jugend forscht”
Munich/Jena, March 28, 2014 – Analytik Jena AG congratulates Patricia Skowronek on winning the Munich North regional elimination round of the “Jugend forscht” competition. The high school student from the Bavarian Hochstadt prevailed with her study on the “Biotechnological Production and Effect of Amylase” in the chemistry category. With this success, she qualified for the Bavarian state competition on April 7—10, 2014.
In the regional elimination round, 24 jurors evaluated 80 studies by more than 120 young researchers in the areas of the working world, biology, chemistry, mathematics/computer science, physics, and technology and determined the best among them.
For Skowronek this is already her third regional victory in the “Jugend forscht” competition. When she participated in the competition in 2012, she conducted research with an Analytik Jena photometer. Also this year she was able to count on support from the Thuringian manufacturer of analytical measuring technology and biotechnology instruments. With a double-beam photometer from the SPECORD® PLUS series, which Analytik Jena made available to the up-and-coming researcher for the “Jugend forscht” project, Skowronek analyzed the biotechnological production and effect of the digestive enzyme amylase. “We are pleased that we were once again able to support Patricia Skowronek in her new project. We are so impressed with her ambition and technical expertise that her win does not surprise us,” said Klaus Berka, Chief Executive Officer of Analytik Jena AG. “Analytik Jena congratulates Patricia cordially on her regional victory and wishes her much continued success in the Bavarian state competition.”
