  • Sales expectations for the current financial year in China at over EUR 30.0 million for the first time

Jena/Beijing, November 2, 2015 — Analytik Jena AG aims to grow at an above-average rate in China, its most important export market, for years to come. That was the announcement made at the final day of the Chinese BCEIA trade fair in Beijing — by the Jena-based manufacturer of analytical measuring technology and Life Science products. The largest trade fair for instrumental analysis in China, the 16th Beijing Conference and Exhibition on Instrumental Analysis, took place from October 27–30 in the Chinese capital.

“In the field of analytical technology and the Life Science segment, the Chinese market is among the largest in the world. And it is continuing to show strong growth, despite the current economic slowdown,” said Zhao Tai, General Manager at Analytik Jena’s representative office in China. For exactly this reason, Analytik Jena has placed a strong focus on sales activities in this region for its instrument business over the past several years. Analytik Jena generates more than 30 percent of the annual total revenue for its two core segments in China. In the current financial year, sales of over EUR 30.0 million are expected for the first time.

“Demand for analytical technology continues to grow in China. Currently, the trend is moving more towards high-end technologies, quality products, innovation, and sustainability,” Zhao Tai continued. “With the internationally respected label ‘Made in Germany’ — as well as the promise of quality that comes with it — Analytik Jena is optimally positioned with its products compared to competitors.”

In the Life Science area, the Chinese region has seen a focus on the establishment of sales structures in recent years and can already point to solid business developments. “With our diverse product portfolio, we have grown by double-digit figures each year since our start in China in 2011,” explained Alexander Berka, General Manager of the Life Science business unit at Analytik Jena AG. The Chinese sales market accounts for seven percent of the global Life Science market on its own. “Our concept of offering customers complete solutions has been well received,” Berka said.

Analytik Jena expects to continue the trend of double-digit growth for its entire core business in China. At this year’s BCEIA, Analytik Jena presented the PlasmaQuant® MS and thermal cycler Biometra TAdvanced for the first time. Both products were presented to the specialist Chinese audience and Analytik Jena customers as part of the scientific lecture program that accompanies the BCEIA. “The response to both presentations was overwhelming,“ Berka added. He presented the Biometra TAdvanced to the audience, whereas Iouri Kalinitchenko, ICP-MS-R&D manager at Analytik Jena AG, introduced the new PlasmaQuant® MS instrument.

About the BCEIA: The BCEIA is the leading trade fair for instrumental analysis in China and takes place every two years. It is run by the China Association for Instrumental Analysis (CAIA). A highlight in the industry, the trade fair presents solutions for analytical measuring technology, Life Science and environmental protection as well as laboratory instruments and chemical reagents from around the world in an exhibition space of more than 20,000 square meters. This year’s convention and trade fair both had the theme: “Moving towards a green future.” The trade fair was concluded with an increased number of exhibitors of about 10.0% compared to the last time.
