Analytik Jena AG Launches New Generation of Thermal Cyclers for its Biometra Brand
Jena/Göttingen (Germany), August 1, 2014 – In August, Analytik Jena AG will begin marketing the TAdvanced, its first model in a new series of Biometra thermal cyclers. What makes the TAdvanced particularly impressive are its excellent heating and cooling rates. These are achieved through new ultra-powerful control electronics. Using an aluminum sample block, this allows speeds to be reached that had previously only been possible using instruments with silver blocks.
“The thermal cyclers in our Biometra product line are highly regarded on the international markets. With the TAdvanced, we are offering a new model in the series that comes with the customary high level of quality as well as wide-ranging functionality that enables our customers to further optimize their validation processes,” said Alexander Berka, General Manager of the Life Science business unit at Analytik Jena AG.
The new electronics system includes USB and Ethernet communications interfaces and a seven-inch touchscreen with easy-to-use operating software that has been completely redesigned. In addition to easy-to-use programming, the intuitive software also comes with a user management function that is simple to configure as well as extensive tools for system diagnostics and recording PCR runs. PCR reports can be created using either tabular or graphical programming.
The user-specific quick-start function combined with a program preview function means no more tedious searching for PCR programs that have already been used. As an option, the TAdvanced thermal cycler is available with a gradient function for optimizing new primer pairs. The “Linear Gradient Tool” allows the desired temperature difference between the columns or rows in the sample block to be adjusted, enabling the gradient’s temperature curve to be configured precisely. The device can also be fitted with a block changeover function as a further option. Customers can choose from six different block types in all, including a high-end version – a 96-well silver block with outstanding heating and cooling rates and ultra-high temperature uniformity to maximize the reproducibility of tests.
