LABVOLUTION 2017: SmartExtraction Technology from Analytik Jena now Available for Manual Extraction
Hanover/Jena (Germany), May 16, 2017 — The SmartExtraction technology of Analytik Jena AG is available from now on also for the manual isolation of nucleic acids. The Company made this announcement at this year’s Labvolution/Biotechnica trade fair, which is taking place from May 16 to 18 in Hanover, Germany.
Only last year, Analytik Jena launched a global innovation in nucleic acid extraction with SmartExtraction. The modern technology, which is based on the use of smart modified surfaces for the binding of nucleic acids, does not need any phenol/chloroform, ion exchangers, filter columns or filter plates, or suspensions from magnetic or paramagnetic particles for the binding of nucleic acids. Now SmartExtraction can be used both manually and automatically. All the necessary extraction steps have been significantly simplified and sped up.
SmartExtraction technology does not just achieve excellent results on automated platforms. It simplifies the manual extraction of genomic DNA from various starting materials — requiring much less equipment than conventional solutions. Instead of requiring elaborate procedures with a centrifuge, the entire process takes place in a thermoshaker.
