BIOTECHNICA 2011: Development Cooperation between Analytik Jena and CyBio Bears Fruit
Jena/Hanover (Germany), October 11, 2011 ? Analytik Jena AG is to present a number of new products at this year’s BIOTECHNICA, the leading European exhibition for the biotech and life sciences sector. InnuPure® C 96 for fast and fully automated nucleic acid extraction is the first products from a development cooperation between the Jena-based instruments manufacturer and its subsidiary for liquid handling products, CyBio AG. With a further cooperation product, the GenTheater for automated sample handling, both companies enter the market this fall.
"We are organizing our strategic research and development expertise across the entire Group. As such, we are bundling our skills from various segments to cover the entire product value-added chain," commented Klaus Berka, Chairman of the Analytik Jena AG Executive Board. "We are currently processing more than 40 medium to large research and development projects with numerous new products that supplement our portfolio. This will safeguard our future business development."
InnuPure® C96 is an automatic extraction robot for purification of DNA and RNA from various raw materials. On the basis of tried-and-tested magnetic particle separation, it is ideally prepared for high sample throughputs and can be adapted easily to various sample volumes. The device is used particularly in clinical and biomedical research as well as for quality control in industrial laboratories and large medical centers.
"Sample preparation based on purification of DNA or RNA from various raw materials is a standard procedure in molecular biology and medical diagnostics. The new InnuPure combines the successful liquid handling principles or our subsidiary CyBio AG with the extensive instrument portfolio of the life science area of Analytik Jena," explained Berka.
GenTheater is a highly flexible work station for handling microtitration plates. It allows automated pipetting routines to be performed easily and quickly. The platform technology makes it possible to use strips, individual vessels and glass slides in addition to microplate handling. With up to 12 freely selectable desk positions in the 96-well SBS standard format, the system can easily be adapted to any conceivable application.
This year’s BIOTECHNICA will be open from October 11 to 13 at the Exhibition Grounds in Hanover. Analytik Jena AG, together with subsidiaries Biometra GmbH, CyBio AG, AJ Innuscreen GmbH and AJ Cybertron GmbH, can be found at Stand F34 in Hall 9.
