Biometra: BioDocAnalyze Software for Analysis of Electrophoresis Gels
Goettingen/Jena (Germany), September 30, 2011 ? In October 2011 Biometra GmbH, a Company of Analytik Jena Group, releases a basal upgrade of her established BioDocAnalyze software for the analysis of electrophoresis gels and blots. The updated software architecture processes images in 16 bit format for maximum information of results. Users will be pleased about the extension of the tool bar with self-explanatory icons for all important functions.
The combination of automatic and semi-automatic detection of lanes and bands and the direct access to manual detection options make the analysis of individual gels a matter of seconds. Detected bands are completely encircled in their boundaries thus allowing a direct control of detected areas. Results of size, mass and Rf value calculations are displayed either on the gel or in a result sheet which can be exported. The simultaneous display of intensity profiles of lanes and the normalisation of data at the push of a button provide an insight into the separation quality of the gel run. New options for processing and editing of gels are introduced: Overlay and merging of gels and frames is useful as well as adding annotations and comments in many different formats and orientations. Creating master files is possible.
The BioDocAnalyze software is part of all computer-based gel documentation systems of Biometra (BDAdigital, BDA live, BDAvideo). It is also sold separately for import of gel images taken with external devices or with the Biometra stand-alone system UVsolo TS.
