Jena, June 21, 2010 – With the integration of the sales unit of CyBio Japan Co. into Analytik Jena AG's Japanese subsidiary, the Jena-based systems provider for analytical instrumentation technology is bundling its sales competence in one of the biggest and most dynamic markets in this segment. At the dealer conference organized by Analytik Jena in Yokohama, Japan, on May 28, 2010, the company launched the joint Group-wide market campaign.

"Our goal is to further expand Analytik Jena's international network and to exploit the experience and structures of the successful Analytical Instrumentation division for other business units and subsidiaries too", said Klaus Berka, CEO of Analytik Jena AG. "Thanks to the extensive synergies resulting from bundling sales structures and expertise in the Group, we will be able to achieve significant sales and growth potential."

With an export ratio of nearly 70% and a distinctive international retailer network, Analytik Jena now operates in more than 90 countries worldwide. In the past fiscal year, the Group generated sales of close to EUR 50 million outside Germany.

"The Japanese market for analytical instrumentation technology is the third biggest in the world and will develop rapidly. Many governments in the Far East have invested considerable sums in biological and pharmaceutical research and established related programs", stressed Torsten Olschewski, head of sales and marketing in the Analytical Instrumentation division at Analytik Jena. "In the atomic spectroscopy and elemental analysis product lines, we will position ourselves even more broadly with additional products and will benefit in particular from our good reputation in Asia."

A total of 62 Japanese retailers participated in the conference in Yokohama. The event focused on the development and consolidation of the Life Science division and in particular on the integration of CyBio, which caters to a specific industry with the major pharmaceutical groups, into the existing sales activities.

"The pharmaceuticals market has been undergoing a dramatic change in recent years. Now we must push forward CyBio's international business with high-quality, innovative products and the right market strategy", said Berka.
